Nepal – Protection of Kamalari girls
In the south-west of Nepal, girls as young as the age of 6 are often sold to rich families as serfs (“Kamalari”), where they have to work for up to 18 hours a day. They have no prospects of an education and often suffer abuse. With the help of the project, these girls are liberated from serfdom and a return to their villages can be made possible. The freed girls will receive schooling, job training and help with the first steps of their careers.
